Akoma

Akoma from Cotton and Steel, designed by Rashida Coleman-Hale, her final for Cotton and Steel.

Akoma is inspired by the Adkinkra symbols originally created by the Akan of Ghana and the Gyaman of Cote d’Ivoire in West Africa.

Akoma is a heart shaped symbol meaning patience and tolerance. The Adinkra symbols express various themes that relate to their history, beliefs and philosophy.

This collection of 17 prints included 15 unbleached quilting cottons and 2 rayons.
